Sammanfattning/Abstract:
Wind tunnel calibrations of five Vaisala WAA151 anemometers were carried out as part of the preparations for the upcoming power performance measurements on the Nordic 1000 1 MW wind turbine. Two other brands of anemometers; the Friedrichs 4033 and the Risø P2445b anemometer, were calibrated as well in order to enable a comparison of calibration results between different wind tunnels.

“Twin” calibrations were carried out with two anemometers in the wind tunnel simultaneously. The object was to determine if twin testing can be used for calibration, thus eliminating the need for carefully calibrated pressure transducers and corrections for wall induced velocities.

The influences of wind velocity gradient and tilt angle were investigated as a contribution to the ongoing IEA activities dealing with wind speed measurements. Wind velocity gradient effects were investigated for the MIUU anemometer and tilt angle sensitivity was tested for five different types of anemometers. The five types of anemometers were Vaisala WAA151, Friedrichs 4033, Risø P2445b, NRG Maximum#40 and the MIUU anemometer.
