Sammanfattning/Abstract:
The ride-through functionality of a 2MW DFIG wind turbine equipped with an undervoltage ride-through functionality has been verified directly by
measurement. A comparison has been made with simulations generated by theoretical models.

During 7 months of monitoring, several voltage dips occurred, including one severe dip down to almost 0 %. The wind turbine rode through all occurring dips, remaining connected to the system.

A generic model of the DFIG system consisting of publicly available algorithms was formed and implemented into the simulation program PSCAD/EMTDC. Several simulations were performed to illustrate how this model compares with the response of the 2MW wind turbine to voltage dips. A fairly good agreement was observed.
